In this project, I created a web-based classroom performance system. Conventional classroom performance systems use multiple choice questions on the relevant subject matter to assess the skill level of the class. My system improved classroom performance systems by modifying them to assess the classroom challenge level in addition skill level. Using Csikszentmihalyi's literature on the theory of flow, the skill level and challenge level can be used to determine the classroom affective state. This new information can be provided as feedback and can be used to encourage student engagement and improve classroom cognitive and affective states.
